Autumn Pillow Project, aka CQtober2024 - Seam 21, Herringbone Stitch
#CQtober2024 A large curved seam on this project called out for herringbone stitch! It goes around curves so nicely! The challenge on this seam was that there were six different fabrics bordering it. That made it difficult to choose threads that would show up well, especially given the limited number of threads I'm using on this project. In hindsight, I sort of wish I had used the darker orange for the seam and the lighter orange for the French knots. I stitched the straight stitches first, not planning on doing the French knots on them, but once stitched, they looked unfinished, so I went back and added French knots to them. It would have been easier to stitch pistil stitches instead. To make the orange French knots, I doubled the thread to make them stand out a bit more. They turned out well. I've stitched variations of this seam on several different projects. It always turns out well! The video is available here! Happy Stitching!
